Gulab jamun is a dessert often eaten at festivals or major celebrations. It is a popular dessert in countries of the Subcontinent such as India, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh. It is made of a dough consisting mainly of milk, sugar, ghee and then dipped in sugar syrup.

Ingredients

  • Skimmed milk 375 gram
  • Flour 125 gram
  • Ghee 1 kg
  • Sugar 250 gram
  • Soda 1/4 tsp
  • Amonium 1/4 tsp
  • Water 1 liter
  • Rang kaat 2 pints
  • Pistachio as required

Cooking Directions

  1. Heat oil in a pan.

  2. Take a bowl and add 2 cups of ghee and milk powder in it.

  3. Mix it by adding little water slowly.

  4. Then add soda, rang kaat, amonium and water. mix well. Add flour and mix well.

  5. Put the mixter in refrigerator to get it cool.

  6. Now add sugar and half liter water in a pan to make sugar syrup.

  7. Now make the small balls of the cooled mixture.

  8. Fry the balls on low flame, till golden brown.

  9. Now dip the fried balls in the sugar syrup.

  10. When get ready take out in a dish and ganish with pistachio and serve.

  5. Sunflower512, Rang Kaat or Color Kaat is called Sodium Formaldehyde Sulfoxylate in English. Most bakeries are suing it in sweets for its cheapness. It can easily be bought from any fabric dyer (Dopattay rangny walay) in Pakistan, Bangladesh and India.
