Ingredients

  • Bananas 6 unripe
  • Curd or yogurt 1/8 pint
  • Garlic cloves 6
  • Onions 2
  • Red chilies 3 dry
  • Coriander seeds 2 tsp
  • Garam masala 1 tsp
  • Mango powder (amchoor) 1 tsp
  • Ghee 3 tbsp
  • Coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste

Cooking Directions

  1. Chop the onions and grind to a paste with the garlic, salt, chilies, and the remaining spices. Peel the bananas and slit lengthwise.

  2. Stuff them with the masala paste and tie with a piece of thread or pint together with toothpicks so that the masala does not leak out.

  3. Heat ghee in a kerai and fry the bananas.

  4. When they are nicely browned, add the curd and cook till they are soft and tender.

  5. Add 1 cup hot water if necessary. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve as a side dish.
