Ingredients

  • Red chilli powder 10 gm
  • Green apple 400 gm
  • Sugar 10 gm
  • Vinegar 1/2 cup
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin powder 1 tbsp
  • Coriander seeds, roasted and ground 1 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds, ground 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • For Tempering:
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  • Ginger/garlic paste 1 tsp
  • Nigella seeds (kalonji) 1/2 tsp
  • Fenugreek seeds 1/2 tsp
  • Oil 1/2 cup

Cooking Directions

  1. Wash and wipe-dry the apple.

  2. Cut it horizontally into half inch long slices.

  3. Add sugar, vinegar, salt, turmeric, chilli, cumin, coriander and mustard powder. Keep aside.

  4. To prepare tempering, heat oil in a wok and fry mustard and cumin seeds.

  5. Add nigella seeds and fenugreek seeds.

  6. Add ginger and garlic paste and after a few seconds, remove from heat and let it cool.

  7. Pour the mixture over the apple.

  8. Transfer it to a clean, dry airtight bottle.
