These are eggless cookies, made with rolled oats with golden syrup give it a chewy texture. Wonderful to accompany your tea with!

  • Butter 50g
  • Sugar 75g
  • Golden syrup 1 tbsp
  • Bicarbonate of soda 1/2 tsp
  • Boiling water 1 tbsp
  • Plain flour 75g
  • Rolled oats 50g
  • Dessicated coconut 30g

Cooking Directions

  1. Preheat oven for 170 c.

  2. Grease baking tray.

  3. Melt the butter, golden syrup and sugar in a sauce pan over low heat.

  4. Mix the bicarbonate of soda with the boiling water add this to the melted mixture.

  5. Put the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl and make a well, pour the melted mixture into the well .

  6. Mix to a moist but firm consistency

  7. Place spoonfuls of the mixture onto a greased baking sheet.

  8. Leave enough room between each spoonful for the mixture to expand during baking.

  9. Bake in preheated oven for 10-15 minutes untill brown golden.

  10. Allow the biscuit to cool on the baking tray before removing them.

  1. May be your mixture was much dry next time take 3 tbsp of water as oats starts plump up rapidly and take 75 g of butter. Sorry for inconvenience.

  2. This just didnt work at all... following the ingredients list, made the mixture far too dry and Crumbly.Was difficult to form and didnt flatten out at all. Just stayed as cooked oaty balls. Tasted ok though, but certainly were NOT chewy at all. Any ideas where I went wrong??
