American chop suey is some what inspired from Chinese chop suey. Try out this recipe of chop suey prepared with chicken, liver and vegetables.

  • Boneless chicken breast 200 grams
  • Chicken liver 100 grams
  • Salt n pepper to taste
  • Soya sauce 2 tbsp + 2 tbsp
  • Ginger and garlic paste 1 tbsp + 1/2 tsp
  • White vinegar 1 tbsp
  • Tomato ketchup ½ cup
  • Tomato puree ½ cup
  • Red chili powder 1 tsp
  • Sesame oil ¼ tsp
  • Brown sugar ¼ tsp
  • Egg noodles 1 packet
  • Cooking oil 2 tbsp
  • Oil for frying ½ liter
  • Carrot 1
  • Capsicum 1
  • Onion 1
  • Spring onion 1
  • Fried egg 1
  • Chicken stock 1 cup
  • Corn flour 1 tbsp

Cooking Directions

  1. Slice chicken breast into julienne pieces.

  2. Chop chicken liver in small pieces.

  3. Add 1 tbsp ginger and garlic paste, 2 tbsp soya sauce and a pinch of salt n pepper to meat and keep aside to marinate for 10 minutes.

  4. Boil water in a cooking pot, add a pinch of salt and a packet of noodles and let it boil.

  5. When done, strain, rinse with cold water and drizzle some oil to keep them from sticking

  6. Chop a capsicum and a carrot in julienne shape, an onion in cubes and finely slice a spring onion and fried egg.

  7. In a wok, heat 1 tbsp oil and add ½ tsp ginger garlic paste.

  8. Stir briefly then add marinated meat.

  9. Saute for a minute and add tomato puree, tomato ketchup, red chili powder, 2 tbsp soya sauce, white vinegar, brown sugar, sesame oil and salt n pepper to taste.

  10. Stir well and let it cook for a couple of minutes.

  11. Then add chopped vegetables, egg, stock and corn flour dissolved in water to thicken the gravy.

  12. Cook till the gravy thickens slightly, then remove.

  13. Deep fry boiled noodles and put on platter.

  14. Pour chop suey gravy on top of fried noodles.

  15. Garnish American Chop Suey with sliced spring onion and serve.
