Ingredients

  • Cluster beans ½ kg (chopped into 1” pieces)
  • Onion 1 (sliced)
  • Chili powder 2 tsp
  • Turmeric ½ tsp
  • Coriander powder 2 tsp
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Tomato 2 (chopped)
  • Tamarind pulp ¼ cup
  • Sugar 2 tsp
  • Oil ½ cup
  • For Baghar:
  • Garlic 1 tsp (chopped)
  • Mustard seed ½ tsp
  • Cumin whole 1 tsp

Cooking Directions

  1. Boil gawar for 15 minutes or till ¾ done.

  2. Heat oil, add baghar ingredients, garlic, mustard seeds and cumin.

  3. When poppy seeds starts crackling add sliced onion, fry till light golden.

  4. Add in chili powder, turmeric, coriander powder, salt with tomatoes and fry well.

  5. Then add gawar and cook for 5 minutes.

  6. Lastly add in tamarind pulp and sugar and put on simmer for 10 minutes.
