This is a great alternative to a vegetarian - meat free shammi kebab (cutlets). Packed with a variety of lentils it is highly nutritious with high fibre content.

Ingredients

  • Barley 1/2 cup
  • Chickpea lentil 1/2 cup
  • Moong lentil 1/2 cup
  • Masoor lentil 1/2 cup
  • Garlic 1 tbsp
  • Ginger 1 tbsp
  • Onion 2
  • Garam masala (mix spices) 2 tbsp
  • Allspice (kebab cheene) 1 tbsp
  • Salt 1.5 tsp
  • Red chili powder 3 tbsp
  • Turmeric 1/2 tsp
  • Egg 2
  • Oil 1/2 cup
  • Coriander 1 bunch
  • Water 1.5 litre

Cooking Directions

  1. Take water in a pan.

  2. Add barley and chickpea lentil in it.

  3. Also add masoor and moong lentil.

  4. Now add ginger-garlic paste, mix spices and salt.

  5. Then add kebab sugar, red chili powder and turmeric.

  6. Now cook them till a boil comes.

  7. Then cook it on medium-low heat for 1.5 hour.

  8. Cook them till the water dries out.

  9. Now take out the lentils and let them dry.

  10. Then finely grind them all.

  11. Chop corriander and onion.

  12. Now add corriander and onion in the lentils.

  13. Mix them well and make small round shapes.

  14. Beat the egg.

  15. Dip the round kebabs in egg and fry them.

  16. Tip: Keep the heat medium while frying.
