Ingredients

  • Sela rice ½ kg (boiled)
  • Meat ½ kg
  • Yogurt 250 gm
  • Red chili 2 tsp (crushed)
  • Turmeric ½ tsp
  • Red chili powder 1 tsp
  • Salt 2 tsp
  • Oil 1 cup
  • Mix All spice 1 tbsp
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
  • Nutmeg powder ½ tsp
  • Mace powder ½ tsp
  • Star anise 4
  • Potatoes 3
  • Yellow food color ½ tsp
  • Onion 1 tsp (fried)
  • Tomatoes 250 gm
  • Plum 50 gm
  • Fresh coriander leaves ½ bunch
  • Mint leaves ½ bunch
  • Chaat masala 2 tsp
  • Curry leaves 6
  • Ginger 1 tbsp (finely chopped)
  • Oil ½ cup

Cooking Directions

  1. Mix yellow food color in 2 tbsp yogurt. Keep aside.

  2. Add one cup water, crushed red chili, turmeric, red chili powder, salt, one cup oil, mix all spice, ginger garlic paste, nutmeg powder, mace powder, star anise and remaining yogurt in a pan. Mix well.

  3. Then add meat and cook for 10 minutes.

  4. Then add potatoes and stir well. When potatoes becomes half tender then sprinkle foods color yogurt mixture over potatoes. Cook until chicken tender.

  5. Then add fried onions, tomatoes, plum, fresh coriander leaves, mint leaves, chaat masala, curry leaves, ginger and boiled rice.

  6. Now pour half cup oil over rice and steam for half an hour. Now off the stove.

  7. Delicious degi biryani is ready to serve. Serve with raita.

  4. Dia, no need of layering. Just spread boiled rice over prepared qorma and keep it on dum. This is tried and tested recipe so don't worry about result.
