Mix together flour, yeast, salt, butter, sugar with desired amount of water to make a dough.
Rest the dough for about an hour till it doubles in size.
In a small saucepan, over low heat, melt the butter and warm the garlic cloves.
Punch back the dough, stretch the dough into a 10 by 12 inch rectangle.
Spread the butter and garlic over the surface.
Starting at a long edge, roll the dough like a Swiss roll.
Using a sharp knife, cut into 1 ¼ inch pieces.
Lay the pieces flat over a flat baking tray.
Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.
Glaze with the egg mixed with milk.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
