Those who were Karachi university’s student they must remember, B Pharmacy department canteen’s famous kachori. I still remember and love the taste and aroma of the kachori, i learned to make kachori from thr. I can’t forget the Pepsi crate chairs and table arranged under tree, a very simple setup with tasty, hot kachoris. I tasted this type of tarkari in malir cantt Karachi, actually they served with poories but i twisted it and made with kachori.

Ingredients

  • For Kachori:
  • Plain flour 3/4 cup
  • Flour 1/4 cup
  • Salt a pinch
  • Oil 1 tbsp
  • For Gram Lentil:
  • Gram lentil 1/2 cup (boiled and crushed)
  • Red chili 1/4 tsp (crushed)
  • Salt to taste
  • For Chicken Aloo Tarkari:
  • Potato 3 (medium sized and boiled)
  • Chickpeas 1/2 cup (boiled)
  • Chicken 1/4 cup (shredded and boiled)
  • Chicken cube 1 only
  • Salt to taste
  • Red chilli 1/4 tsp (crushed)
  • Black seeds 1/4 tsp
  • Oil 2 tbsp
  • Fresh coriander leaves as needed (chopped)
  • Green chili as needed (chopped)
  • Yellow food color 1/4 tsp

Cooking Directions

  1. For Gram Lentil: Mix all ingredients and set aside.

  2. For Kachori: Knead well with water and set aside.

  3. Make small balls of equal size, you can make 12 easily from this dough.

  4. Now make small bread and fill gram lentil mixture, make a ball again and then roll it with rolling pin.

  5. It should be very thin, deep fry in hot oil turn and press them quickly.

  6. It will take seconds only then take it out.

  7. Use dry plain flour for rolling.

  8. For Chicken Aloo Tarkari: Add oil and all other ingredients in a pan at a time.

  9. Cover the lid and let them cook for few minutes.

  10. When gravy will become thick, add chopped coriander leaves and green chili.

  11. Enjoy this different taste tarkari with kachori.

  12. Adjust salt up to your taste because chicken cube is also having salt in it.

  13. So be careful about salt.
