Date pudding is a classic English dessert usually served warm in winters. You can lighten up this Ramadan in a completely new way with this pudding to break the fast.

Ingredients

  • Dates ¾ cup (chopped)
  • Walnuts ½ cup
  • Sugar 6 tbsp
  • Egg 1
  • Milk 2 tbsp
  • Vanilla essence ½ tsp
  • Flour 2 tbsp
  • Baking powder ½ tsp
  • Salt a pinch
  • Butter 1 tbsp
  • Whipped cream as required

Cooking Directions

  1. In a bowl, combine the dates, walnuts and sugar.

  2. In another bowl, beat egg, milk and vanilla essence.

  3. Add to the date mixture and mix well.

  4. Combine flour, baking powder and salt, add to the date mixture.

  5. Spread into a greased baking dish; dot with butter.

  6. Bake for 30 minutes at 180◦C or until knife inserted in the centre comes out clean.

  7. Serve hot with whipped cream and enjoy.
