Ingredients

  • Mutton (cut into square pieces) 1 1/2 kg
  • Scraped coconut 1 1/2 cup
  • Poppy seeds 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder 1 tsp
  • Cumin seed powder 1 tsp
  • Chilli powder 2 tsp
  • Cloves of garlic 10
  • Onions 4
  • Cinnamon 1 large piece
  • Oil as needed
  • Salt to taste

Cooking Directions

  1. Wash the meat and dry.

  2. Roast poppy seeds and coconut lightly on a griddle.

  3. Add cumin seeds, coriander, chilli and turmeric powder.

  4. Add garlic. Grind to a fine paste.

  5. Cut onions finely and fry in enough oil.

  6. Add cinnamon and the ground masala and fry till the oil separates.

  7. Add meat pieces and salt to taste.

  8. Cook slowly adding only a little water at a time.

  9. There should be no gravy left while serving this dish.
