Jalebi - The sweet of Ramadan. Jalebi is a popular sweet in Asian countries like Bangladesh, Pakistan and India. Crispy outside and soft and juicy inside jalebis are everyone's favorite. Soak cold jalebis in warm milk and enjoy a jalebi dessert.

Ingredients

  • Fine flour 250 gm
  • Color kaat a pinch
  • Yellow food colour a pinch
  • Baking powder 1/2 tsp
  • For Sugar Syrup:
  • Sugar 1 kg
  • Water 1/2 kg
  • Almond, pistachio 50 gm
  • Silver leaves as required
  • Oil for frying

Cooking Directions

  1. In a bowl add fine flour, color kaat, baking powder and yellow food color.

  2. Now gradually add some warm water and mix to form batter. (Its consistency should not be too thick or too thin, a smooth flowing consistency is desired).

  3. Mix it properly and set aside for half an hour.

  4. Then in a skillet add sugar, water and 2 cardamoms, cook to prepare sugar syrup.

  5. Heat oil in a wok.

  6. Put prepared batter in a piping bag and start making coils of batter in hot oil.

  7. Fry till slightly golden.

  8. Then strain out the jalebi and soak in sugar syrup for 20 minutes.

  9. Then garnished with silver leaves and pistachio.

  6. i want to know whether water will be added in flour or it will be in powder form? how it will be in batter form with a pinch of colour? water or any other liquid is not mentioned here.
