This is a lovely piece of steak to serve your loved one or any special guest. Shireen Anwar tells us how to make a wonderful brown sauce and Caramelized onions to accompany this steak.

Ingredients

  • Beef under-cut 2 pieces weighing 8oz each
  • Marinate:
  • Black pepper crushed 1/2 tsp
  • Salt 1/2 tsp
  • Mustard paste 1/2 tsp
  • Worcestershire sauce 1 tbsp
  • Garlic paste 1/2 tsp
  • Oil 2 tbsp
  • For Brown Sauce :
  • Oil 1 tbsp
  • Butter 2 tbsp
  • Onion chopped 2 tbsp
  • Plain flour 1 tbsp
  • White pepper 1/2 tsp
  • Chicken Stock 1 cup (1/2 tsp chicken powder or 1/2 cube chicken cube in one cup water)
  • Brown sugar 1 tbsp
  • Onion sliced 2
  • Mushroom 4 pieces

Cooking Directions

  1. Wrap the meat peice in a wet tea towel, and flatten with a hammer.

  2. Marinate the meat by rubbing black pepper, salt, mustard, garlic paste and Worcestershire sauce on each meat paste.

  3. To make BROWN SAUCE: In pan add 1 tbsp butter and add a little oil.

  4. Add chopped onions and lightly brown.

  5. Add flour, white pepper, salt and chicken stock.

  6. Add burnt sugar syrup 1 tbsp.

  7. To make FRIED ONIONS: In a separate frying pan, add 1 tbs butter, and 1 tsp oil.

  8. Add sliced onions and 1 tbs brown sugar and saute.

  9. Add 1 tbs worsectershire sauce.

  10. To cook the MEAT: In another grill/frying pan, add 2 tbs of oil and add the meat.

  11. Whilst frying drizzle a little worcestershire sauce.

  12. Whilst cooking prick the meat with knife.

  13. Once the steaks are nearly cooked add the brown sauce over the steaks.

  14. Add sliced mushrooms.

  15. Assembling: Take a sizzler pan and heat it.

  16. Add a little oil. and then add the onions.

  17. Add the steaks with brown sauce, drizzling a little extra brown sauce if you wish.

  18. Add a little freshly ground black pepper.

  19. Serve with boiled vegetables, mashed potatoes or fries.

  20. Note: For a well-done steak fry for 8 minutes only, for a medium steak fry for 5 minutes, for a rare steak fry for 3 minutes.

  21. Note: To make burnt sugar: take an old saucepan, take 1 tsp sugar and let it burn. Once it burns add 1/2 cup water and let it cook for another 2-3 minutes.
