Satay or sate is the national dish of Indonesian. Skewered and grilled meat is served with a delicious peanut sauce. Serve it with pita bread and fresh vegetable salad.

Ingredients

  • Chicken breasts ½ kg (boneless, cubed)
  • Onions ½ cup (fried crisp and crushed)
  • Peanut butter 112 gm
  • Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  • Cumin powder 1 tsp
  • Soy sauce 2 tbsp
  • Sesame oil 2 tbsp
  • Lemon juice 2 tbsp
  • Brown sugar 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil 2 tbsp

Cooking Directions

  1. Marinate chicken pieces in soy sauce, sesame oil, lemon juice, turmeric, coriander, cumin powder and salt.

  2. Refrigerate for an hour.

  3. Thread marinated chicken pieces on skewers and grill them either in oven or over coal.

  4. Heat oil in frying pan, fry crushed onion for a few seconds.

  5. Add red chillies, peanut butter, brown sugar and left over marinade of chicken,

  6. Cook for a few minutes.

  7. Take out in bowl.

  8. Serve chicken satay with tasty peanut sauce.
