Chana curry with boiled chickpeas or chole masala is a popular vegetable dish in Indian, Pakistani and Bangla cuisine. The main ingredient is chickpeas. It is fairly quick and spicy with a sour citrus.

  • Bengal gram/chickpeas 1 cup
  • Ginger 1 tsp (shredded)
  • Garlic cloves 2 (crushed)
  • Sugar 1/2 tbsp
  • Onion 2 tbsp (chopped)
  • Cooking oil 2 tbsp
  • Green chilies 2

Cooking Directions

  1. Rinse the chickpeas.

  2. Add 3-4 cups of water.

  3. Bring to boil, add salt, ginger and garlic.

  4. Boil until chickpeas are soft and broken.

  5. Add the sugar and green chilies.

  6. In a saucepan heat the oil and fry the onion brown.

  7. Pour in the chickpeas and remove from heat.

  8. Serve hot with luchi or boiled rice.
