Wash and soak red lentils for an hour.
In a pan add 2 cups water, red lentils, salt and turmeric let cook till lentil is tender.
Remove and blend. Cook again till slightly thick.
In a small pan heat the oil or butter and add onions and garlic and cook till golden.
Add cumin seeds and add tarka to the lentil just before serving.
Serve with boiled rice and fish patio.
