Your kids are going to love these homemade rolls. Freshly baked cones are filled with a delicious creamy chicken filling. Serve it at Iftar or with tea.

Ingredients

  • For Filling:
  • Chicken 1 cup (boiled, shredded)
  • Fresh Coriander as required
  • Green Chili as required
  • Black pepper ½ tsp
  • Red chilli ½ tsp (crushed)
  • Salt to taste
  • Capsicum ½ (cut in stripes)
  • Mayonnaise 1/2 cup
  • Dough for Cones:
  • All purpose flour 1 cup
  • Red chili powder 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric 1 pinch
  • White cumin powder 1 tsp (roasted, crushed)
  • Salt 1/2 tsp
  • Clarified butter 1/2 tbsp
  • Water for dough as required
  • Cone mold 3
  • Egg 1 (lightly beaten)
  • Sesame seeds as required
  • Home-Made Cone Molds:
  • Manila paper or any semi-hard paper as required
  • Foil paper as required

Cooking Directions

  1. Home-Made Cone Molds:Cut the manila paper or any semi hard paper into rectangles and roll them up into cones.

  2. Staple them to maintain the conical shape.

  3. Now cut up a piece of foil and wrap it around the cone to prevent the paper from burning in the oven.

  4. Tuck the foil from the top opening of the cone to hold it in place, but you don't have to line the inside of the paper cones, just the outsides.

  5. You can then re-use these cone-molds a couple of times. You will just need to change out the foils and use new ones for the next batch.

  6. Before using the cone molds them, you will need to grease the molds preferably with butter to make sure your bread does not stick to the molds.

  7. For Filling:Add all ingredients for the chicken filling in a bowl and mix well. Set aside.

  8. For Dough of Cones:Combine all purpose flour, red chili powder, turmeric, white cumin powder, clarified butter and salt. Gradually add water and mix to form a medium soft dough. Leave aside for 20 to 25 minutes.

  9. Now grease cone molds with a little clarified butter. Now roll out the dough on lightly floured surface to make a thin bread (roti). Cut the rolled out bread in medium sized stripes.

  10. Now roll the dough strips on cone mold and brush egg over it, then sprinkle sesame seeds over the strips.

  11. Now bake them in a preheated oven for 15 minutes at 180 C.

  12. Take the cones out and carefully remove cone mold. Let the cones cool down.

  13. Fill the chicken filling in a piping bag / pastry bag and fill it in the baked cones.
