Shermal - Flatebread made of flour, yeast, egg, sugar, clarified butter, and salt. Usually eaten in Pakistan, India and Iran with special dishes on the special occasions.

Ingredients

  • White flour ½ kg
  • Yeast 1 sachet
  • Sugar 4 tbsp
  • Egg 1
  • Clarified butter ½ cup
  • Salt to taste

Cooking Directions

  1. Take warm water in a cup and put yeast, sugar and mix.

  2. Leave it for 10 to 15 minutes.

  3. When its start to rise, put it in a mixing bowl with white flour, beaten egg, clarified butter and salt and knead it well.

  4. Now wrap it in a plastic sheet and leave it on a warm place.

  5. Now make balls from it and roll it with a rolling pin, with help of fork make marks in the centre.

  6. Now put it in oven for baking for 15 to 18 minutes at 200C.

  7. Brush sheermal with clarified butter and serve immediately.
