Ingredients

  • Moong Dal split 1 cup
  • Spinach chopped 1 bunch
  • Tomato chopped 1 medium
  • Onion chopped 1 medium
  • Cumin Seeds 1 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder
  • Ginger finely chopped 1 tbsp
  • Green Chilli 2
  • Garlic Slit 2 flakes
  • Butter/Ghee 2 tbsp
  • Red Chilli Powder to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh Coriander Leaves to Garnish

Cooking Directions

  1. Soak the split green gram in water for about an hour.

  2. Grind the garlic, green chilli, ginger and onions to fine paste.

  3. Add the turmeric and red chilli powders to the paste and mix.

  4. Heat the butter/ghee in a pan and fry the cumin seeds till they splutter.

  5. Add the paste and fry till fat leaves the sides.

  6. Now add tomato and salt.

  7. Fry/cook on medium leavel for about 3 minutes.

  8. Add the soaked gram and double the water.

  9. Cover and boil on medium/low level for about 5 minutes or till the gram is tender.

  10. Add the chopped spinach and simmer for about 3 minutes or till the spinach is cooked.

  11. Garnish with finely chopped fresh coriander leaves.
