Mexican Nachos - Nachos is a corn based Mexican food that can either be served as a snack or with more ingredients make a complete meal. Nacho is made of tortilla bread served with pickles, cheese or salsa. Shireen Anwar has shared with us the recipe of Nacho snack served with salsa.

Ingredients

  • For Nachos:
  • Maize flour 3/4 cup
  • Plain flour 1/2 cup
  • Oil 1 tbsp
  • Salt 3/4 tsp
  • Carom seeds 1/2 tsp
  • For Tomato Salsa:
  • Tomatoes (cut into square cubes) 2
  • Tomatoes blended 2
  • Green chilies chopped 2
  • Vinegar 1 tbsp
  • Coriander leaves chopped 1 tbsp
  • Garlic 1/2 tsp
  • Salt 1/2 tsp
  • Sugar 1/2 tsp
  • Crushed red pepper 1/2 tsp
  • Onion chopped 2 tbsp
  • Capsicum chopped 2 tbsp
  • Oil 2 tbsp

Cooking Directions

  1. For Salsa: Heat oil and add onion, garlic paste, green chilies and capsicum, cook for 2 minutes.

  2. Now add in blended tomatoes with salt, crushed red pepper, sugar, vinegar and chopped tomatoes.

  3. Cook till salsa thickens.

  4. For Nachos: Sift both flour together with salt, oil and carom seeds, mix well.

  5. Knead to a soft dough with lukewarm water till smooth.

  6. Cover and keep for 30 minutes.

  7. Make small marble size balls, roll out into thin tortilla. (as thin as you can on a floured board)

  8. Prick the tortilla with a fork.

  9. Cut into 4 pieces to get 4 triangles then cut each triangle further into 2 pieces to get 8 triangular pieces.

  10. Deep fry on medium flame till it turn golden brown in color, serve with salsa.
