Shalgam or turnip curry. Turnips has a sharp taste that's why sometimes sugar is added it to it to taste. You can also add chicken to this curry. Mild taste of chicken tastes great with sharp taste of turnips.

Ingredients

  • Turnips 3/4 kg
  • Onions 100 gm
  • Tomatoes 100 gm
  • Ginger 1" piece
  • Green chillies 2
  • Cloves of garlic 2
  • Salt to taste
  • Green coriander leaves as required
  • Ghee as required

Cooking Directions

  1. Chop turnips into big pieces.

  2. Boil them in water till soft or pressure cook for 3 minutes.

  3. Fry chopped onions, ginger, green chillies and garlic till golden brown.

  4. Add chopped tomatoes and salt to taste.

  5. Add 1 tsp sugar if desired.

  6. Cook till the gravy is golden in color and add turnips.

  7. Cover and cook till ready.
