Baked cauliflower and turnip masala is absolutely fatastic low fat dish. It's baked dish of two very nutritious vegetables. It goes with chapati or boiled plain rice.

Ingredients

  • Cauliflower 1 kg
  • Green chilies 3 to 4 sliced
  • Coriander ½ bunch sliced
  • Red chili powder 2 tbsp
  • Ginger 2 tbsp sliced
  • Hot spices powder ½ tsp
  • Lemon juice 3 to 4 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • For Masala paste:
  • Turnip ½ kg grated
  • Tomatoes 2 chopped
  • Cloves 4 to 5
  • Whole black pepper 5 to 6
  • Cardamoms 2 to 3
  • Cinnamon sticks 2 to 3
  • Coriander seeds 1 tsp
  • Ginger 1 tbsp sliced
  • Cumin ½ tsp crushed
  • Yogurt 2 to 3 tbsp
  • Olive oil 3 to 4 tbsp

Cooking Directions

  1. Separate florets from cauliflowerin.

  2. In a blender jug add green chilies, red chili powder, salt to taste, sliced ginger, sliced coriander, hot spices powder and lemon juice, blend to form paste.

  3. Marinate florets in the masala mix and steam for 10 to 15 minutes.

  4. For Masala paste, heat olive oil in a pan and add 2 to 3 cardamoms and 5 to 6 black pepper and sauté.

  5. Add ginger and fry.

  6. Then add turnip and fry.

  7. Now add crushed coriander, cumin, tomatoes and salt to taste and sauté.

  8. Now add yogurt and mix to form a paste.

  9. Now place steamed florets in an oven proof dish and apply paste on top.

  10. Bake in a pre heated oven at 200 c for 15 minutes.

  11. Baked Cabbage and Turnip Masala is ready to serve.
