  • Live female crabs with roe 8 large
  • Onions 6 medium
  • Green chilies 6
  • Clove garlic 1
  • Tomatoes 4 large
  • Potatoes 2-3 medium
  • Mustard oil
  • Turmeric powder a pinch
  • Sugar and salt to taste

Cooking Directions

  1. Pour boiling water on the crabs, then separate the legs from the body discard outer shell, eyes and apron and wash well.

  2. Heat mustard oil in a saucepan and when smoking hot, put in the crabmeat and fry well.

  3. Remove and keep aside.

  4. Slice the onions and fry to a light brown in the same oil, then slice and add chilies and garlic and the crab-meat.

  5. Cover the saucepan and leave to simmer for a few minutes.

  6. Add quartered tomatoes and potatoes, which have already been boiled, peeled and cubed, and simmer till tender.

  7. Season with salt and sugar.

  8. Serve hot.
