Ingredients

  • Groundnuts 12 oz
  • Asafoetida a little
  • Mustard seeds 1/4 tsp
  • Grated coconut 2 tbsp
  • Green chillies 5
  • Onion large 1
  • Oil or ghee 1 tbsp
  • Chopped coriander 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste

Cooking Directions

  1. Use fresh groundnuts that are still tender.

  2. Otherwise, boil peanuts in enough water, drain and chop coarsely.

  3. Heat the ghee and fry the mustard seeds.

  4. Add chilies, sliced onion, turmeric and asafetida.

  5. Fry till brown, then add the nuts and coconut.

  6. Mix well. Cover the mixture and cook for a little while.

  7. Uncover and fry, stirring all the while, till the mixture smells cooked.

  8. Add chopped coriander and serve at tea time.
