Fish is considered one of the healthiest foods. Eating fish regualry can benifit in many ways. Fish with gravy or fish curry is very popular all over the world. This particular recipe is popular in interior SIndh by Indus River, where they eat this salan with Lal chawal ki roti.

Ingredients

  • Fish 1 1/2 lb cut in medium size steak
  • Oil 1/4 cup
  • Onion 1 small sliced
  • Garlic Paste 1tbs
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander Powder 1tbs
  • Red Chillie Powder 1tsp
  • Cumin Powder 1/2tsp
  • Turmeric Powder 1/2 tsp
  • Dry Methi 1/2 tsp
  • Dry mango(Ambiyan) two strips
  • Cilantro/Parsely for Garnish

Cooking Directions

  1. Rub generous amount of salt on fish and put in the fridge for an hour.

  2. Wash the fish thoroughly and set it aside (its better to keep the fish in refrigerator).

  3. Saute onion in a pan Until it's slightly pink.

  4. Add all the spices and cook it until the aroma comes out about 4-5 minutes.

  5. Add fish and cook it for about 2minutes on medium high flame, add 1/2 cup water.

  6. let the water boil and turn the stove off.

  7. garnish it with chopped cilantro or parsely or both.

  8. Eat it with plain rice

  1. Kehkashan, Purpose to apply salt is to remove fish particular smell. In step 4 mentioned "add all spices" it means red chili powder, coriander powder and all.

Salaam,This is the first time I will be having Fish SALAN, I never wanted to try it, because the chef would leave the foul fishy smell, I have made it today, and hope that the family likes it.Thank you all for providing these recipes for all of us that are a little less compatible with the kitchen and cooking, I never cooked at home before my wedding, and have been taking care of a family of 4, since 1996, but this is the first time WE are having Fish Salan, so thanks again.Jaza Kallah,Was-Salaam.
