Dahi baray is so mouth-watering and favorite snack of all. Its sweet and spicy taste combination is great with yogurt, tamarind and masalas. This soft white lentil baras are great for iftaar or for tea time snack.

  • White lentil 250 gm
  • Red pepper 1 tsp (crushed)
  • White cumin 1 tsp
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Baking powder 1 tsp
  • Water as required
  • Yogurt 1 kg (whipped)
  • Icing sugar 5 tbsp heaped
  • Chat Masala 1 tsp
  • Tamarind chutney 4 tbsp
  • Coriander leaves 1 tbsp

Cooking Directions

  1. Soak white lentil for 6 hours, drain water.

  2. Put in blender with red pepper, whole white cumin, salt, baking powder and ½ cup water, blend well. Deep fry baras in frying pan.

  3. Soak in hot salted water.

  4. Beat 1 kg yogurt, strain and mix with icing sugar.

  5. Remove baras from water, remove all the water by pressing in between your palms.

  6. To Serve:

  7. Put 1 cup yogurt into a serving dish, arrange baras, cover with remaining yogurt on top.

  8. Sprinkle chat Masala, drizzle with tamarind chutney and coriander leaves, serve chilled.
