Ingredients

  • Whole Wheat flour 1 lb
  • Minced meat 1/2 lb ground
  • Onion 1
  • Coriander powder 1 tsp
  • Chili powder 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Ghee or butter

Cooking Directions

  1. Mince the onion. Heat 2 tbsp ghee or butter and sauté onion till a golden brown.

  2. Add coriander, chili powder, garam masala and salt and fry till nicely brown.

  3. Add 2 tbsp water and simmer till tender.

  4. If necessary, add more water and fry till dry.

  5. Meanwhile, sieve flour with salt, rub in a little butter, add water and knead well into stiff soft dough.

  6. Break off small portions and roll into 8 paper-thin, round, even chappatis.

  7. Smear one chappati with ghee and place another on it, smear again and place another until you have a layer of four.

  8. Sprinkle the surface with a little water and spread a thin layer of meat.

  9. Cover with four more chappatis with a smear of ghee between each.

  10. Enough for 3 such parathas.

  11. Roast on a tava till lightly golden, add a little ghee on the sides and fry on both sides till nicely brown and crisp.
