The origin of chicken 65 dates back to early 60's. Chicken 65 is a spicy, deep-fried chicken dish popular in South India, goes great with rice. Also a favorite companion on parties.

Ingredients

  • Chicken boneless or prawns (thinly sliced) 1/2 kg
  • Corn flour 2 tbsp
  • White flour 2 tbsp
  • Egg 1
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • For sauce:
  • Garam Masala powder: 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves 15-20
  • Soya sauce 2 tbsp
  • Salt 1/2 tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste 1/2 tsp
  • Oil 1/4 cup
  • Orange color pinch
  • Yogurt 1/2 cup
  • Green chilies (sliced) 3-4
  • Lemon juice 3 tbsp

Cooking Directions

  1. Marinate chicken/ prawns with corn flour, white flour, egg, ginger garlic paste, red chili powder and salt. DO NOT USE WATER FOR BINDING, only use egg.

  2. Mix them all very well.

  3. Make small balls of this mixture and deep fry them for 8-10 minutes on medium flame.

  4. For sauce: Fry curry leaves in oil.

  5. Add ginger garlic paste, salt, very little water, Garam Masala powder, soya sauce, red chili powder, yogurt, orange color, lemon juice and sliced green chilies.

  6. Cook for 5 minutes.

  7. Add fried chicken/ prawns in the sauce and serve.
