Semolina Dessert or Halwa- Usually a very sweet dessert but you can easily alter that to your liking. This can be served with puri or naan to make it a yummy breakfast or make it for a dessert or a snack with cardamom infused tea.

Ingredients

  • Semolina 1 cup
  • Butter/ Shortening 4-5 tbsp
  • Food Coloring to your liking
  • Sugar 1 cup
  • Water 2 cups
  • Ground Cardamom 1/4 tsp
  • Raisins 2-3 tbsp

Cooking Directions

  1. Pan-fry semolina in a saucepan for about 4-5 minutes on medium heat.

  2. Add sugar, cardamom and water, stirring until no lumps.

  3. Add food coloring until lightly tinted and cook until thickens.

  4. Add shortening/ butter and keep stirring on low heat (the butter will be absorbed by halwa completely).

  5. Add raisins, stir and simmer until the butter separates from the semolina mixture, serve immediately.
