Braised Rice - Simple braised rice recipe which gives you whole grained separate rice pot. Rice lightly seasoned with chicken stock and onion. You can add some vegetables if you like.

Ingredients

  • Butter 3 tbsp
  • Rice 1/2 kg
  • Chopped onion 1
  • Ginger 1 tbsp
  • Garlic 1 tbsp
  • Chicken stock as required to boil rice
  • White pepper to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • Spring onion 5-7
  • Oil 100 ml

Cooking Directions

  1. In a pan add 2 tbsp butter, onion, ginger and garlic, sauté in butter.

  2. Add stock, rice, salt and pepper, bring to boil them.

  3. When water starts to reduce, add spring onion and cook on low flame.

  4. Before steaming the rice, spread 1 tbsp butter over the rice.

  5. Cover tightly and steam on very low heat for 15 minutes or until done.

  6. When ready serve hot.
