Rasmalai is originally made of cottage cheese. You can also make rasmalai with powdered milk. Follow these simple steps and learn how to make this delicious dessert with milk powder.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup powdered milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. oil
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • For Syrup:
  • 1 liter milk
  • 6 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 green cardamom (Chhoti Ilaichi)
  • 1 tbsp. chopped pistachio (Pistay)
  • 1/2 tsp. Kewra essence

Cooking Directions

  1. Mix together the ingredients into a dough and form into small oval, slightly flattened balls.

  2. Meanwhile boil the milk with sugar and cardamom seeds.

  3. When the milk starts to boil add the malai balls.

  4. When they start to swell up lower the heat and cook for 10 minutes.

  5. Just before removing from heat add kewra essence.

  6. Garnish with pistachios.

  7. Chill and serve.

  7. This recipe was very good. I found u needed to cook the malai balls much longer than the 10 minutes suggested, approx, 30-35 minutes. Dough was quite stiff, but overall the taste and appearance was very good.
