Firni is the most popular Pakistani traditional dessert after kheer. The main reason for Firni's popularity is, it gives some what kheer like taste, but it is so much more smoother and cooks in quarter of time.

  • Almonds 12
  • Rice flour 4 tbsp
  • Milk 2.5 cup
  • Sugar/Sweetener 5 tbsp
  • Saffron 8 strands
  • Small cardamom powder 1 tsp

Cooking Directions

  1. Blanch and grind the almonds to a fine paste with half cup of milk.

  2. Mix together the ground almond paste and rice flour.

  3. Bring milk to a boil.

  4. Add sugar and stir till the sugar dissolves.

  5. Melt the saffron separately in a spoonful or 2 of milk.

  6. Add the almond rice mixture into the boiling milk along with the saffron milk mixture.

  7. Stir continuously for a few minutes till the milk thickens.

  8. Sprinkle in the cardamom powder.

  9. take off the flame and allow to cool.

  10. Pour into individual bowls, garnish with almonds and pistachios and refrigerate.
