Rajmah is cooked curry of Red kidney beans. Red kidney beans are cooked in seasoning and spices till smooth and then touched with cream and green coriander.

Ingredients

  • Rajmah 1/2 kg
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • Chilli powder 1 tsp
  • Onions 2
  • Tomatoes 2
  • Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
  • All spice 1 tsp
  • Cloves of garlic 10
  • Ginger 1" piece
  • Cream 1/2 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander leaves as required
  • Ghee as needed

Cooking Directions

  1. Put cleaned, soaked rajmah with water in a pressure cooker.

  2. Add chopped onion, tomatoes, garlic and ginger.

  3. Also add ghee and all spices. Cook till smooth and done.

  4. Remove and cook on a low flame for 10 minutes.

  5. Stir in cream and garnish with coriander.

  1. Its better to soak the beans for atleast 2 to 3 hrs and then boil it..boil for atleast 20 mins n then check it whether the beans became soft as chana daal

  4. S Lewis, you have to put the closed pressure cooker on high flame until it starts to erupt steam and whistle. Note time at this stage and let it cook on high flame for 5 - 7 minutes. Turn off the flame then. Follow the recipe from step 4 from there.
