Tasty chickpeas patties are easy to prepare from potato and chickpeas. You can make by left over chickpeas or can buy tin of boiled chickpeas also. These patties are superb for ramadan or tea time snack with chili garlic sauce.

  • Chickpeas 500 gm (boiled)
  • Green chilies 10 gm
  • Coriander 25 gm (chopped)
  • Potatoes medium 100 gm (boiled, cut into small pieces)
  • Black pepper 2 gm (freshly ground)
  • Dry mango powder 5 gm
  • Carom seeds 1 gm
  • Salt to taste
  • Roasted cumin 100 gm (coarsely powder)
  • Ginger 5 gm (chopped)
  • All spice powder 10 gm
  • Lemon juice 10 ml
  • Oil 50 ml, for shallow frying

Cooking Directions

  1. In a nonmetallic bowl, mix together chickpeas, potatoes, dry mango and cumin powder, black pepper, salt, carom seeds, ginger, green chilies, coriander, all spice and lemon juice.

  2. Mix well, pass it through a fine mincer.

  3. Set aside for a few minutes.

  4. Rub a few drops of oil on your hands and make equal sized balls with the dough mixture.

  5. Flatten the dough balls into patties.

  6. Shallow fry the patties in oil on a non-stick pan until the crust is golden and crispy.

  7. Blot excess oil on kitchen paper.

  8. Serve with mint chutney.
