  • Ingredients for short crust pastry:
  • Butter 6 ounce
  • Flour 8 ounce
  • Salt ¼ tsp
  • Egg yolk 1
  • Ingredients for filling:
  • Boiled and shredded chicken 3 cups
  • Peas ½ cup (boiled)
  • Potatoes ½ cup (diced and boiled)
  • Carrots ½ cup (diced and boiled)
  • Black pepper 1 tsp
  • Flour 3 tbsp
  • Butter 3 ounce
  • Milk 2 cups
  • Chicken Stock 1-½ cup
  • Boiled egg 1
  • Hp sauce 1 tbsp
  • Egg 1 beaten for brushing
  • Sesame seeds 1 tbsp
  • Salt ½ tsp (heaped)

Cooking Directions

  1. To make Pastry: In a bowl beat butter for 2 minutes, add egg yolk, salt, and  flour.

  2. Slightly mix the ingredients together and knead lightly to form a dough.

  3. Chill for 30 minutes and use accordingly.

  4. Method for filling: In a pan melt butter and flour.

  5. Stir well, add salt, pepper ,milk,HP sauce and chicken stock.

  6. Cook and stir till mixture thickens.

  7. Add in chicken and boiled vegetables, mix well.

  8. To Assemble Pie: Pour filling in a greased oven dish, arrange slices of boiled egg on top.

  9. Roll pastry according to the size of the dish and spread it on top.

  10. Brush lavishly with beaten eggs and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.

  11. Cut a crust in the centre.

  12. Bake on 180 degree C for 20 minutes or till the top turns golden brown in colour.

  2. The filling was fine but the crust kept breaking. Maybe the amount of ingredients should be written again in a better proportion.
