  • Dal 1 cup
  • Green chillies 6
  • Scraped coconut 1/2 cup
  • Tomatoes 2
  • Cloves of garlic 6
  • Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 tbsp
  • Asafoetida a pinch
  • Coriander Leaves 1/2 bunch
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for seasoning
  • Curry Leaves

Cooking Directions

  1. Cook dal in a pressure cooker and mash.

  2. Add water if necessary. Add turmeric powder, chopped green chillies and coriander, tomatoes and coconut.

  3. Heat 3 tbsps. oil and add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, asafoetida, chopped garlic and curry leaves.

  4. When the seeds splutter, pour over the dal.

  5. Garnish with chopped coriander and serve with fot steaming rice.
