For all those meat lovers here is meaty curry or mutton Josh. It is cooked in yogurt and tomato juices, all spices gives it strong flavors. You can either try out this recipe in Baqra Eid and let everyone experience a meaty treat.

  • Mutton ½ kg
  • Yogurt ¼ kg
  • Salt to taste
  • Ginger Garlic paste 2 tbsp
  • Coriander powder ½ tbsp
  • Chili powder 1 tbsp
  • Cumin powder ½ tbsp
  • Oil 3 tbsp
  • Bay leaf 2
  • Green cardamom 4 – 5
  • Whole cumin 1 tsp
  • Onion 1 (medium sized, chopped)
  • Tomatoes 5 (blanched and chopped)
  • Turmeric ½ tsp
  • Water 1 glass
  • All spice powder ½ tsp

Cooking Directions

  1. Take a bowl and marinate mutton with yogurt, salt, ginger garlic paste, coriander powder, chili powder, cumin powder and keep aside.

  2. Heat oil in a wok, saute bay leaf, green cardamom, whole cumin and then add chopped onion.

  3. When the onion softens add the marinated mutton and stir fry for 4 – 5 minutes.

  4. Then add tomatoes, turmeric and sauté for 2 minutes.

  5. Add a glass of water, cover lid and cook on low heat.

  6. Remove the lid after 20 – 25 minutes.

  7. Higher the flame and dry the water out.

  8. When oil forms a layer over gravy Mutton Josh is ready.

  9. Sprinkle all spice powder and serve.
