  • Chicken 1/2 cups
  • Potatoes 1/2 kg
  • Tomatoes 8
  • Lemons 2
  • Yogurt 250 grams
  • Green chillies 5 (whole)
  • Mint leaves 1/4 bunches (chopped)
  • Dried plums 1/4 cup
  • Ginger/garlic paste 2 tsp
  • Red chilli powder 2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • Saffron 1/2 tsp
  • Bay leaf 1
  • Hot spices 1 tbsp
  • Screw pine few drops
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil as required

Cooking Directions

  1. Soak saffron in screw pine, peel potatoes and cut them into quarters.

  2. Par-boil rice in water with salt, bay leaves and whole hot spices.

  3. Heat oil in a pot and add 6 sliced tomatoes.

  4. When tomatoes become tender, add ginger/garlic paste, red chillies, turmeric powder and salt, fry.

  5. Add whisked yogurt, potatoes and chicken when oil appears on surface.

  6. Add dried plums, green chilies, mint leaves, 2 tomatoes cut in rounds and lemon slices to the chicken, mix well.

  7. Heat little oil in a separate pot and place a layer of rice, then a layer of chicken masala and lastly, again a layer of rice.

  8. Pour saffron and screwpine mixture on top and keep on dum for 10 minutes on low flame.

  9. Delicious Sindhi Biryani is ready, serve hot with raita & salad.
