Daal with chicken meat is a tasty dish for all those family who dont like to eat pulses/lentils. Lentils are great source of protien and we must include lentils in our meal menu in any form.

Ingredients

  • Chicken with bone ½ kg
  • Gram lentils 250 gm
  • Oil 4 tbsp
  • Ginger garlic paste 2 tbsp
  • Green chili 4
  • Salt to taste
  • Water 2 glass
  • Clarified butter ¼ cup
  • Onion 1 medium (chopped)
  • Tomato 2
  • All spice powder 1 tsp
  • Coriander leaves ¼ bunch
  • For Paste:
  • Coriander powder 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric 1 tsp
  • Chili powder 1 tsp
  • Black pepper 1 tbsp (crushed)
  • Cinnamon powder ½ tsp
  • Nutmeg mace ½ tsp (ground)

Cooking Directions

  1. Cut chicken into pieces, soak gram lentils for 2 hours.

  2. Heat oil in a pan, add ginger garlic paste and green chilies.

  3. Fry for 1 – 2 minutes.

  4. In a bowl put together ½ cup water, coriander powder, turmeric, chili powder, black pepper, cinnamon powder and nutmeg & mace. Mix well.

  5. Now pour this spice mixture to the pan, fry for 1 – 2 minutes.

  6. Then add chicken and fry well for 3 – 4 minutes.

  7. Now add soaked lentils, salt and water as required.

  8. Cook on low flame for 20 – 25 minutes.

  9. In another pan heat clarified butter, add in onion and fry till golden brown.

  10. Turn the flame off and keep aside.

  11. Cut tomatoes into thin round slices.

  12. Add to the lentils mixture and fry for 1 – 2 minutes.

  13. Now add in onion baghar, all spice powder and coriander leaves.

  14. Dish it out and serve hot.
