  • Chicken 1 kg
  • Rice 3 cup
  • Potato 4
  • Tomato 6
  • Onion 4
  • Lemon 4
  • Dry plum 1 cup
  • Yogurt 1 cup
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 ½ cup
  • Green chilli 6
  • Mint chopped 1 bunch
  • Green cardamom 6
  • Cloves 4
  • Whole black pepper 6
  • Whole cumin 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder 1 tbsp
  • Coriander powder 2 tbsp
  • Milk 1 cup
  • Food color 1 pinch
  • Clarified butter/oil 1 cup

Cooking Directions

  1. Marinate it with yogurt, ginger garlic paste, red chilli powder, coriander, green chilli, lemon, mint, green chilli, dry plum and salt, leave it for half an hour.

  2. In a large skillet, heat oil and fry the slised onions till it turns golden brown.

  3. Take out half the onion for garnish.

  4. Now add the marinated chicken in skillet with the fried onions and tomatoes and cook.

  5. Cut each potato into four pieces and add to chicken.

  6. Cook for 15 minutes till potato and chicken tenders.

  7. Boil rice with mint, green chili, cardamom, black pepper, salt and cloves.

  8. Drain rice when it is cooked one third.

  9. Now first layer rice, then layer chicken.

  10. Keep on alternating the layers and finally add the fried onions on top of rice.

  11. Put a pinch of saffron in warm milk and pour over the rice.

  12. Squeeze the juice of two lemons.

  13. Allow to cook on a high flame for 5 minutes.

  14. Then lower the flame, cover and simmer until biryani is ready.
