Lips smacking Haleem is prepared in large quantity for guests and served as one dish. It's eaten as snack and appetizer also in snack bars and fast food centers. This is Lal Qila's delicious haleem recipe brought by Chef Shireen Anwer. Must try and enjoy hot with all garnishing ingredients.

Ingredients

  • Beef 1 kg (boneless)
  • Wheat 250 gm
  • Barley 125 gm
  • Oil 2 tbsp
  • Gram lentil 1 cup
  • Yellow lentil ¼ cup
  • Orange lentil ¼ cup
  • Pigeon lentil ¼ cup
  • Oil 1 cup
  • Ginger garlic paste 2 tbsp
  • Onion ½ cup (brown)
  • Salt 2 tbsp
  • Chili powder 3 tbsp
  • Turmeric 1 tbsp leveled
  • Coriander powder 1 tbsp
  • Yogurt 1 cup
  • All spice powder 1 tbsp
  • For Serving:
  • Brown onion
  • Coriander leaves (chopped)
  • Mint leaves (chopped)
  • Green chilies (chopped)
  • Ginger (julian)
  • Clarified butter 2 tbsp
  • Lemon slices

Cooking Directions

  1. Soak wheat and barley overnight.

  2. Cook in the morning in 2 tbsp oil till soft and tender.

  3. Blend and keep aside.

  4. Cook all the lentils with 4 to 5 cups water till tender.

  5. Cool and blend altogether.

  6. Heat 1 cup oil add ginger garlic paste, brown onion, salt, chili powder, turmeric, coriander powder and yogurt fry well.

  7. Add beef and add 8 to 10 glasses of water, cook and cover till meat tender and soft.

  8. Then blend meat with a spoon, mix the meat with blended lentils and meat mixture.

  9. Again put to cook on slow fire, stirring all the time.

  10. Lastly add all spice and stir well.

  11. Serve garnished with brown onion, coriander leaves, mint leaves, green chilies, ginger, clarified butter and lemon slices.

  12. Serve hot.
