Achari Chana pilaff a very tasty and delightful pulao (pilaff) by cooking expert Zubaida Tariq and the ingredients used are so common which makes the chana pilaff low budget recipe. Ingredients

  • Chickpeas 1 cup
  • Oil 1 cup
  • Rice 3 cup
  • Finely sliced onions 4
  • Lemon 4
  • Sliced green chilies 8
  • Bay leaves 8
  • Sliced mint 1/ bunch
  • White cumin
  • (Roasted and ground) 1 tsp
  • Brown sugar 1 tsp
  • Nigella seeds 1 tsp
  • White vinager 1 tbsp
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds 1 tbsp
  • Red chili flakes 1 tbsp
  • Crushed black pepper 1/2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste

Cooking Directions

  1. Boil soaked chickpeas, and add finely chopped mint, salt, 2 green chilies and white vinegar to rice.

  2. Boil rice until 1/3 cooked.

  3. Now in a cooking pot, add some oil and sauté onions.

  4. In half of the sauteed onion, add ginger garlic paste, lemon juice, chick peas, red chili flakes and mustard seeds and sauté.

  5. Now put remaining green chilies, brown sugar and curry leaves.

  6. Grease the bottom of a separate pan add a layer of half of the rice Then add a layer of chickpeas.

  7. Add lemon juice and mint. Spread the remaining rice and top with mint leaves and squeeze the juice of a lemon.

  8. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes.

  9. Now dish out and sprinkle the fried onions and serve with the yogurt.
