Ingredients

  • Cholar Dal 1 cup
  • Cinnamon 2 stick
  • Green Cardamom 6
  • Red Chillies (Optional) 2
  • Cloves 4
  • Bay leaves 2
  • Black Pepper 1/2 teaspoon
  • Onion Chopped 1 tablespoon
  • Ginger Grated 1/2 teaspoon
  • Mace Powder 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive Oil 2 tablespoon

Cooking Directions

  1. Soak dal in two cups of water for at least four hours.

  2. Wash dal and transfer it to a pan.

  3. Add two cups of water and ginger.

  4. Cook in slow heat till the dal is soft.

  5. Add small amount of water if required. Add salt.

  6. In a small frying pan take 2 tablespoon of oil.

  7. When the oil is hot add cinnamon stick, bay leaves, black pepper, cloves, dry chilies, crushed cardamom.

  8. Fry for 30 seconds. Now add the chopped onion and fry till golden brown.

  9. Remove the frying pan from heat and transfer all the contents in the frying pan to the cooked dal.
