This is an excellent vegetarian vegan friendly recipe, with low fat, low sugar and high fibre content makes it an ideal recipe to make. Lentils are cooked with spinach peas and carrots, with spices giving it a delicious fulfilling meal.

  • Arhar daal 1/2 cup
  • Moong daal 1/2 cup
  • Onion 1
  • Tomatoes 1
  • Green chillies 2
  • Garlic buds 2-3
  • Grated ginger 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric 1/2 tsp
  • Spinach 1 cup
  • Carrot 1
  • Peas 1/2 cup
  • Mustard seed 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seed 1/2
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil as required

Cooking Directions

  1. Cook both dhals with salt and turmeric until soft.

  2. In another pan boil the carrot and peas with salt.

  3. In frying pan heat oil, add mustard and cumin seed then add ginger garlic and onion.

  4. When onions are transparent add green chillies and tomato.

  5. When tomatoes soften, add this mixture to dhal and cook for 2 min.

  6. Add palak (spinach).

  7. When palak (spinach) is cooked add carrot and peas.

  8. Check seasoning and cook for 2-3 min.

  9. Serve with rice.
