Ingredients

  • Fresh fish roe 1 lb
  • Vinegar 3/4 pint
  • Chili powder 4 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder 2 tbsp
  • Ground mustard seeds 3 1/2 tbsp
  • Groundnut oil 1/2 pint
  • Salt 2 tbsp

Cooking Directions

  1. Clean the fish roes and sprinkle with 1 tbsp chili powder, 1/2 tbsp turmeric and the salt.

  2. Mix well and keep aside for 1/2 hour.

  3. Heat oil and fry the roes well on both sides.

  4. Cool and cut into 1-inch pieces.

  5. Pack in layers in a pickling jar.

  6. Mix remaining spices with the vinegar and pour into the jar.

  7. Seal the jar tightly and shake the contents.

  8. Let stand for a week before using.
