Ingredients

  • King fish (surmai) fillets 8
  • Salt to taste
  • Lemon juice 4 tablespoons
  • Coconut(scraped) 1/2 cup
  • Green chillies(chopped) 4
  • Fresh coriander leaves(chopped) 1 cup
  • Garlic 6-8 cloves
  • Cumin seeds 3 teaspoons
  • Banana leaves 3-4

Cooking Directions

  1. Sprinkle lemon juice and salt on the fish chunks and marinate for fifteen minutes.

  2. Grind together coconut, green chillies, coriander leaves, garlic & cumin seeds to fine paste.

  3. Keep each fish piece on a piece of banana leaf, spread green chutney on both sides and fold the leaf over the fish to make a parcel.

  4. Heat water in a steamer.

  5. Keep the fish parcel in the steamer and steam for five to seven minutes. Serve hot.
