Liver has long been one of the most popular organ meats of the cow or goat. Recipes of cooking liver are specified to limited dishes such as fried liver or liver, but there are number of health benefits of eating liver organ of chicken, mutton or beef. Liver is rich in a number of minerals, vitamins and nutrients. Here is the easy, quick and healthy recipe of liver and onions with desi touch to enjoy on Eid-ul-Adha. Do not overcook the liver for better taste.

Ingredients

  • Beef/goat liver cubes 500 gms
  • Lemon juice 1 tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Red chili flakes 1 tsp
  • Onions 3 medium (round slices)
  • Green chilies 2 (finely chopped)
  • Yogurt 1 tbsp
  • Fresh coriander for garnishing
  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon (crushed)
  • Coriander seeds 1 tsp (crushed)
  • Butter 1 tsp
  • Oil 1 tsp

Cooking Directions

  1. Wash liver pieces and let all the water drain.

  2. Transfer in a bowl and add lemon juice, ginger garlic paste for 5 minutes. (This marination will control the specific smell of liver).

  3. Heat oil and butter together in a wok, add liver pieces.

  4. Fry for two minutes, add salt, red chili flakes, cumin and coriander on medium flame.

  5. Add yogurt and stir continuously.

  6. Add onions slices and cook for another 8-10 minutes.

  7. Turn off the flame add fresh coriander and green chilies.

  8. Serve hot with paratha or chappati.
