Jalebi - The Arabian dessert of the holy month of Ramadan. Sweet, crispy and chewy jalebis can we served warm or cold. You can also soak the prepared jalebis in warm milk to make jalebi dessert.

Ingredients

  • Flour (maida) 5 cup
  • Gram flour 2 tsp
  • Warm water
  • Baking Soda 1 tsp
  • For Sugar Syrup:
  • Sugar 2 kg
  • Water 800 gram
  • Green cardamom 5
  • Screw pine (kewra) 3-4 tbsp

Cooking Directions

  1. In a bowl combine 2 cup flour, 1 tsp gram flour, soda and mix with warm water to make batter. Its consistency should not be very thick or too thin.

  2. Leave it for about 4-6 hours.

  3. The consistency of batter will now be liquid as compared to before.

  4. In a separate pan take rest of the flour and gram flour and make a normal consistency batter with warm water.

  5. Now add the already prepared mixture to this new mixture and gently mix.

  6. In a pan add sugar and water, mix well and boil.

  7. When sugar is fully dissolved and thick syrup is ready,, add few green cardamoms and screw pine in it.

  8. Take a cloth to make pipe for pouring mixture.

  9. Heat the oil in the frying pan and with the help of pipe drizzle mixture into the pan in desired design.

  10. Fry till golden brown from both sides. And immediately soak in syrup for few seconds and takeout in a platter.

  11. Garnish with finely chopped pistachio and almonds.

  12. Serve hot or warm and enjoy.

  1. Waiza Bano, Pour batter in a cloth that have a narrow hole in center and drizzle mixture into the hot oil with moving your hand in circular motion. In this way you get shape of Jalebi.

  3. Nisha, gram flour is also known as chickpea flour, called besan in Hindi and Urdu language.Kewra is screwpine essence, its traditionally used in edible things like sweets dishes and beverages. Green Cardamom, commonly known in pakistan and India as Choti Elaichi.
