Mix all the dry ingredients in the lentils. Now squeeze lemon juice on it. Leave for 10 minutes.

  • Fried green gram lentil (moong dal) 1 packet
  • Fresh mint leaves(Separated and finely chopped) 1 bunch
  • Fresh coriander finely chopped 1 bunch
  • Green chilies finely chopped 4
  • Onions medium size, finely chopped 1
  • Lemons 2
  • Samosa pastry sheets 2 dozen
  • Flour 2 tsp
  • Cooking oil for deep-frying

Cooking Directions

  1. Mix all the dry ingredients in the lentils.

  2. Now squeeze lemon juice on it. Leave for 10 minutes.

  3. In the meantime, prepare the paste to seal the samosas.

  4. Take two teaspoons of flour and add just enough water to make a smooth paste.

  5. Now take a sheet of samosa pastry.

  6. Hold it from one corner and fold it in a triangular shape.

  7. Give it another fold and fill in the stuffing.

  8. Repeat once, using the same fold.

  9. Now only a thin horizontal strip will be left.

  10. Put some flour paste on it and bring it down to the stuffed side.

  11. Press firmly. Repeat with the remaining.

  12. Deep fry on low heat.

  4. This sounds different and interesting. Many years ago when I visited Chembur in Bombay, we went to a small restarsunt called SAROJ (near the rly. station) where we ate samosas filled with shredded coconut with some kind of a masala. We still wonder if someone can give me the recipe, it was heavenly V S Gopalarathnam
